Quality Assurance

Casa College has in place a set of processes to ensure quality will be experienced consistently across all aspects of the College operations (Quality Assurance) and support the College in a cycle of continuous improvement and rising standards (Quality Improvement). All academic units and other College services are subject to evaluation. The evaluation of the operation of the College as a whole is based on the evaluation of individual assessments. Considering the results of the evaluation, the College is required to take the necessary measures for the assurance and improvement of the quality of the project. The aim is to achieve quality improvements that are learner – focused and have a positive impact on the learner experience. These include:

  • The quality of teaching, learning and assessment
  • The College environment, including resources
  • The College services and operations

The quality of our academic programs is dependent on a regular and comprehensive review process to ensure programs are relevant, appropriate for the credential and are consistent with the College program standard or program description, and when applicable, the degree-level standard. Quality is also dependent on the program being designed to scaffold the student’s growth of knowledge and skills to meet the program learning outcomes. In addition, the quality of the program will be dependent on the faculty, who are experts in their field using modern teaching and evaluation methodologies. The Quality Assurance Policy (QAP) informs the need to record and track any changes resulting from the program quality assurance process, and effectively communicate the changes to all stakeholders (e.g. students, program team members, program advisory committee members etc.) 0 The College has in place a range of systems and procedures that combine to provide a quality assurance framework. These include:

  • College wide annual self-assessment by area of learning
  • Annual observation of teaching, learning and assessment cycle
  • Moderation of observation of teaching, learning and assessment grades and process
  • Annual staff development plan
  • Staff appraisals
  • Probation and mentoring scheme for new tutors

  • A customer care policy, with complaints and issues of concern investigated by the student welfare team
  • Student and staff induction programs
  • Board of Directors that meets formally six times per academic year (2 each semester, one at the beginning and one at the end of the semester)
  • All College policies and procedures that support the quality framework are available via the College intranet
  • The Quality Assurance Committee is established based on the quality assurance process which is an internal and external comprehensive, integrated framework that monitors and is focused on continuous improvement of the quality of programs and operated at the College. Its task is to control the level of education provided in all departments of the College and the submission of suggestions for its improvement. The composition, the method of member selection and the Committee of Internal Evaluation are determined by internal regulations
  • The QAC is formed by decision of the Board of Directors and is responsible for developing the policy, strategy and necessary procedures for the continuous improvement of the quality of the work and the services of the Institution, which consists of the internal system of quality assurance of the The organisation, operation and continuous improvement of the internal quality assurance system of the institution, the coordination and support of the evaluation procedures of academic credit and other services of the institution and finally, the support of external assessment procedures and certification of study programs and the internal system quality assurance of the institution, within the guidelines and instructions of the Tertiary Education Law of the Republic of Cyprus
